As per the Hindus, Lord Rama and his brother Lakshmana passed by this region. They were in search for Lord Rama’s wife Sita. Lord Rama was thirsty and was looking for water. Lakshamana shot an arrow that struck the ground and oozed the river water. Hence, this river was discovered. It is this river that creates the Iruppu Falls by descending down a 60 metre slope

Also known as Embepare, the sight of the cascading water amidst the verdant coffee plantations is a sight to behold. The Chomakund hill is located a couple of kilometres from these falls.
